deCoubertin Books are delighted to have two titles longlisted at the Cross Sports Book Awards in the Best Football Book category.

Faith of our Families: Everton An Oral History 1878-2018 and From Delhi to the Den: the Story of Football’s Most Travelled Coach were unveiled as part of the long list at an event hosted by the Football Writers Association in central London tonight.

The Sports Book Awards is the major annual promotion for sports writing and publishing, the awards exist to highlight the most outstanding sports books of the previous calendar year, to showcase their merits and to enhance their reputation and profile.

Published to acclaim in October and featuring more than 200 original interviews with the club’s players, managers, fans and administrators, Faith of our Families offers an unparalleled and unprecedented insight into Everton’s story.

From the Cypriot fourth division to the Indian national team, Stephen Constantine’s career has taken the scenic route. From Delhi to the Den, written in collaboration with BBC journalist Owen Amos, tells the story of Constantine, a veteran manager of six different national sides across four continents.

Faith of our Families editor James Corbett said: ‘Having Faith of our Families recognised as one of the best football books of the year is a tremendous honour. I’d like to pay tribute to all those people who gave their time to be interviewed for the book, as well as my fellow editors Jack Gordon Brown and Philip Ross who played such a fundamental role in elevating this work to be a more ambitious book.’

Stephen Constantine, speaking ahead of India’s upcoming friendly with Kyrgyzstan said: ‘I am delighted that our book has been long listed and humbled that it has been recognised with this nomination.’
