England: The Complete Record Special Edition

Back us now on Kickstarter!

deCoubertin Books are one of Britain's leading sports publishers and we are publishing the first comprehensive statistical record of the England football team this autumn, England: The Complete Record.

This complete record includes statistical details of every England match, friendly or competitive, year upon year – the result, the opponents, the scorers, the venue, the attendance, the line up – complete with a weaving narrative throughout.

Replete with in-depth player and manager databases and profiles, this book is an indispensable addition to the libraries of every England fan and to followers of the beautiful game everywhere.

Special Edition of a special book

We'd also love to produce a special limited edition clothbound version of  England: The Complete Record. If successful, the special edition will be released in late-October to allow time for the binding and the hand finishing of the cloth bound cover and slipcase. We are looking to do this through Kickstarter

This will be the ultimate collectible edition of the ultimate account of England's national team.

This is our first Kickstarter campaign, but this isn't our first special edition. Previously we have made beautiful clothbound versions of our Chelsea, West Ham and Everton Complete Records, and have produced other sumptuous special editions - including a leather bound version of one of our Liverpool books.

Rewards that you won't see in the shops

To reward those who help us on our journey as well as the chance to purchase amazing books, we are providing the opportunity for our backers to personalise their books. Backers will have the chance to add their name to the book's Roll of Honour, an appendix which will list all of those who pre-ordered their copy. In addition, backers will also have the chance to add a personalised nameplate, which will be fixed into the front of the book.

As rewards, we have also commissioned some amazing Subbuteo sets commemorating England's 1966 World Cup winners. Handmade and hand painted in Liverpool, these are presented beautifully in a box frame and would make the perfect addition to the wall of any England fan.

About the book

Fully updated to include the 2018 World Cup in Russia, England: The Complete Record is the definitive account of one of the world’s most recognisable and historic national teams. Participants in the first official international association football match ever played – a 0-0 draw with Scotland at Hamilton Crescent on 30 November 1872 – England have remained a domineering and pioneering force in the global game throughout their existence.

Over 145 years since that groundbreaking meeting with Scotland, Jack Gordon Brown and Philip Ross have collaborated to detail the highs and the lows of the Three Lions. From the ignominy of defeat against Hungary at Wembley in 1953, to World Cup glory at the same venue thirteen years later, and penalty heartbreak throughout the ages – every meaningful moment is recorded in these pages.

About the authors

Jack Gordon Brown was born in London. After studying journalism at the University of Salford, he became an editor at deCoubertin books in 2016. He  previously collaborated with Philip Ross and James Corbett on Faith of Our Families: Everton: An Oral History.

Philip Ross was born in Liverpool in 1967. He is a lifelong Everton and England supporter, with a background of research and database production. He launched the first Everton Former Players’ foundation website and worked on the book, Faith of Our Families: Everton: An Oral History.
