Baillie Photography Exhibition

deCoubertin Books are pleased to announce the photography exhibition of Alex Baillie

As the days became shorter and the nights darker, Simon Hughes began a journey through the north west, the country’s most successful football region. During the winter of the 2016/17 English season Hughes met the individuals shaping the game, those able to explain how and why moods are changing from the top of the professional ladder to amateur levels. Through interviews with Jürgen Klopp, Sean Dyche, Gary Neville and many other players, owners, chairmen, directors and politicians, the themes of globalisation, geography, industry, politics and finance are never far away.

Photographer Alex Baillie travelled around the area as well, joining fans on the terraces of ancient football stadiums like Carlisle United’s Brunton Park; entering dressing rooms ahead of FA Sunday Cup ties; meeting legendary managers like Joe Royle in his living room.

deCoubertin Books are excited to announce that Liverpool Central Library will be showcasing Baillie’s exclusive photography and this gallery will focus on Merseyside football. The club’s covered here include Liverpool, Everton, City of Liverpool, Tranmere Rovers and Home Bargains FC.

From Wednesday 1st August 2018 until the end of the month, Alex’s work will be available to see at the Liverpool Central Library. Opening hours: Mon-Fri 9am-8pm/Sat 9am-5pm/Sun 10am-5pm.

Alex Baillie is a published photographer based in Liverpool. He previously shot the cover image of Ron Atkinson for The Manager and his work can be found all around Liverpool, whether it be for local independents such as The Little Deli in Crosby or in the Rough Guides You Are Here A Travel Photobook.

His titles include Red Machine, winner of Antonio Ghirelli Prize for Italian Soccer Foreign Book of the Year 2014.
