Caught Beneath the Landslide

'The distance the club [Man City] have travelled is brilliantly chronicled by the journalist Tim Rich (once of this parish) in his new book Caught Beneath The Landslide.' Jim White of the Telegraph writes about the changing times for Manchester City, going from losing 2-1 at home to Mansfield 20 years ago to being champions of England on multiple occasions.

On this weeks' Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, Johnny Phillips spoke to Tim and former club captain Andy Morrison about Manchester City's return from the brink at the end of the 90s.

'You can read Tim Rich’s brilliant ‘Caught Beneath The Landslide’ to learn about the inner workings of City before the Abu Dhabi takeover, especially during the reigns of Swales and Franny Lee.' Jack Pitt-Brooke of the Independent also looked at the differences between the City of old and the City of today.

In this interview with City's most famous player of that era, Georgi Kinkadze, the Daily Mail's Ian Ladyman references Caught Beneath the Landslide.

BBC Radio Manchester had Tim on in the build up to the Manchester derby.

'By his own admission Riise spent most of his time convincing those who insisted he wasn’t good enough that they were wrong. Just how he did so makes entertaining, powerful and at times painful reading.' Eric Brown of the Sport Journalists’ association reviewed Running Man.

There to be Shot At'Coton’s story concludes with some brief soul-searching following his heart problems, but as with the other more personal reflections dotted throughout, there’s a sense that as an archetypal strong silent type, he is much happier talking about his life in the context of football. This engaging book succeeds in doing that.' When Saturday Comes reviewed Tony [...]
